Products
Three main functions:
1.
Nauplii production for own consumption and third party sales. The nauplii are produced in the breeding area where breeders cultured in a closed cycle are selected based on their resistance, survival and growth.
The nauplii production can reach the 50 millions.
2.
Larvae (or seed) production, which is sown in fattening pools at farming properties. The production here is also for third party sales and own consumption, and it fluctuates between 80 and 100 millions every month.
3. Semacua also counts with a research and development
laboratory to support the areas of pathogens detection and new lines selection. The laboratory analyzes routinely the presence of the following pathogens in stocks as well as in the produced larvae: white spot syndrome virus (WSSV), Taura Virus (TSV), IHHN Virus, yellow head virus (YHV), and NHP intracellular bacterium (which causes necrotizing hepatopancreatitis).
